Ari Kreusch is an artist originally from Spain, with German roots, currently based in New York City. She studied art and illustration in Madrid before spending several years living and working in Helsinki.
She has spent most of her life feeling slightly outside of things; observing, questioning, never quite fitting. It's an uncomfortable place to live, but it taught her how to look closely. At people, at herself, at the gap between who we appear to be and what is actually going on inside.
Her work is an attempt to close that gap. Through paintings and illustration she explores the inner life, the struggles, the patterns, the quiet chaos that most people carry privately and assume is theirs alone. Her hope is that someone sees her work and feels, even briefly, less alone in it.
She is endlessly curious about what makes us who we are, the seen and the unseen, the rational and the unexplainable, how our childhoods, our cultures, our wounds and our loves shape the way we move through the world.
